what t-case do i have ?

what t-case do i have ?
ive got a 85 xj 2.5 5speed Im assuming from specs. that I have a NP-207 but the shift pattern on my t-case is 2H-4H N 4L just like the NP-231 does someone know which type I have..Im looking to swap my 00 GC 4.0 (auto) ho motor on to my 85 ..and trying to fiqure out what I can swap and what I cant..

I want to say all 1984-1987 Cherokees came with the NP207 transfer case.
As far as the engine goes, I would think that you are looking at a very nasty can of worms. It's possible, sure. But it will take plenty of time and fabrication. The '00 engine is OBDII, and that will have to be accounted for. Personally, if it were me, I would swap in a small diesel or a Chevy small block. That could potentially be easier.
Just me thinking aloud though. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Those 84-87's were pretty different as far as Cherokees go

if you are die hard on having a 4.0....then go buy one with one, that is the cheapest and easiest way to do it

thanks for the input, the wife is giving me 3 months to fix it or get rid of it..I just dont want to see it go to waste, i did the rebuild on the GC last year and was hoping i can use the motor for the swap without alot of headache involved hopefully.
