what sort of Jeep is this ?
I bought a bunch of parts of a guy a while back, who was getting out of XJ Cherokees.
He was a Jeep nut, mechanic & off-roader
He had reverted his interest to an earlier model, but I dont know what it was
I think he may have done this possibly to minimise electronic issues on 20+yr old vehicles
anyway, it was as follows; 4.2L Carb motor, 5 speed manual, (I think) looked to my eyes similar to a XJ, but had a longer rear cargo area, easily long enough to sleep in
cant remember if was 2 or 4 door, had a rear hatch (I think)..did not look to be built before mid 70s in style
any suggestions, then I can Google it...I thought it was an MJ Commanche, but Wiki says no 4.2L fitted ?

Old fart with a wrench
Maybe a Wagoneer? (SJ) He could have fitted a 4.2L into it easily.

thanks for that
I believe it fits the description of an SJ Cherokee 80-83
from here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Wagoneer_(SJ)
"The AMC Years 72-83"
pretty sure he did say it was a Cherokee, had the factory 4.2 with 5 speed, as far as I could tell,
he mentioned it had at least equal fuel economy (lol) to most XJ
