Default what size lift springs to buy?

I have 5.5" of lift in the back and a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift setup in the front. I added a 2" coil spacer to level it out and noticed the left coil has about 1.5" broken off of it which keeps the spring from seating right on the spacer. Perfect time to replace/upgrade the springs. I want to net 5.5" of lift.

Should I go with 3.5, 4.5, or 5.5 Rubicon Express Springs? They are all the same price and I can cut down the poly spacer if needed. Any drawbacks to using such large springs such as a problem with using just the stock 1/2" spacer?

go with the 5.5 spring. its more spring for the same money. and when u max flex you have more room on the bump stop for the spring to drop down on. with a larger spacer it takes up more room on the bump stop allowing a shorter distance for your spring to pop off. go with the larger spring. safer.

for example see how the spring is drooping down on the bump stop. with a larger spacer your coil has less room to drop down on it allowing it to come off, which sucks. this is a picture off of FrankZ's Long ArmZ page.

Avoid the spacer if you plan on wheeling, but if you plan on just being a mall crawler then a spacer will work. But since they are all the same price just buy the 5.5 IMHO

Body roll and easier to tip. Thats about the only gain you get from all spring. Not to mention a lower quality on road ride, spacers act as a insulator.

I would never go all spring on anything above 4 inches.

not to disregard the body roll but i have drove a 6.5" lifted xj down the 36 canyon. (its pretty hairy) goin 50 the whole way. just made sure the sway bar and links were in good shape. but every one has there own way to do things, not saying one way is better than the other. but every one has a preference thats why there are so many different awesome xj's out there. they only reason i say larger springs is cuz i like em, never had a problem with them. but others may have so they will stay away. each to their own.

Ok, but most of its not preference.

Ex. "Body roll and easier to tip. Not to mention a lower quality on road ride, spacers act as a insulator."

i totally agree with body roll, easier to tip. higher cog=easier to tip. thats a fact. but "I" like a larger coil for the reasons above. im driving a lifted xj not a caddy and i know that. but if you want spacers to make it more comfy, each to his own. thats all im saying.

cool thanks for all the pointers. I was also curious do you think there anything else I need to replace up front other than getting bump stop extensions and longer sway bar discos when going up 2 inches? I have a heavy duty track bar already.

i thought you were allready at 5.5". 3.5 with 2" spacers. well i guess i got u wrong. umm is it an adjustable track bar. i thought they were from 4-6. do they have a greater distance than this? also goin from 3.5 to 5.5 you will need longer lca's. because your dropping your axel farther from the body and the lca's are for it being shorter so it will bring your axle back. i think anything over 4.5 should have long arms. thats me. correct me if im wrong on the track bar

Yea my aim is long arms eventually, but for now just trying to level everything out. I did already put the spacer in, but wanted to make sure I am not missing anything.
