What should temperature of thermastat housing be?

When pointed with a infared temp gun??

A few degrees hotter then your temp gage...210?

It is a aftermarket one that reads 240 but I just warmed up the jeep and the therastat read 185 with the thermal gun

i hope ur jeep doesnt run at 240!! a stock thermostat is rated at 195 degreesF if that what ur gauge reads on the dash (or somewhere around 210 or less) then its working fine

Youre saying your gauge reads 240 but the t-stat housing is reading 185 with the gun, correct? That sounds great.

i just let it warm up for 15 min and checked it my temp gauge is off by 30 degrees somehow ???? i dont konw how to fix it?

Im sure theyre not going to be identical, but I dont know how much difference theyll be off. Maybe your temp sensor is bad?

i just replaced it with the gauge it came with a new one it replaces the oe one because i cannot change it without breaking the plactic off the connector because of the angle
