Default What should I do??

I bought my jeep late July and up until recently it drove great.

It has 238k on original motor and transmission. The only problems I had we're that the dash lights don't work (gas light, high beam, and turn signals work fine) but nothing else lights up. But the other week I noticed that when I start it up, the oil temp is about 20 and by the time I put it into gear, the temp is at 0. I also noticed a slight clicking noise. At first it was very faint and I pointed it out to a friend riding with me and they couldn't notice it so I figured I was going crazy.. Well now the clicking is getting louder and seems to click faster... What should I do?? I didn't pay much for the jeep and I'm not anywhere near mechanically capable. To add to my frustration, I'm broke as heck right before I leave for basic training... Someone please help me figure out what is wrong or if I should just sell it and buy another jeep..

Thanks in advance!!!!

I'm assuming you mean oil PRESSURE... If so, check it with a mechanical gauge. Chances are if you drove it for any length of time at zero and it didn't grenade the engine or make anything more than a slight click, then you are getting a false reading. New sending unit will fix that.

The click you speak of could be anything from a rock in your tire tread to some minor valve noise. Get the oil pressure issue dealt with first and go from there.

Agree. Any low oil pressure readings should be verified with a "mechanical" oil pressure gauge. Good data = good decisions. A mechanical gauge can be rented from many parts stores inexpensively.

The oil pressure spec for the 4.0 is as follows:

*Not less than 13 psi at HOT idle
*Between 37-75 psi OVER 1600 rpms
