No not always..there are variables. But more likely than not it is the d 35. If you have ABS it is the d35..
Compare this pic to your rear and you should be able to pick out the rear you have.
It ain't gonna be the d30/chrysler 8.25 in the rear i can tell you that.

I have the 35, is that a decent rear end? The guy at the parts store said he wanted to put a 30 front diff and a 35 rear diff in his blazer, made em seem pretty quality.

I wouldn't hold faith in a d35. In fact they named it the d35 bc if you run a 35" tire on it it will explode into 700 pieces. Lol
All joking aside no, the d35 is not something want to build. And I have no idea why anyone would want to swap one into something. Usually it's the d35 that's getting the boot for something else. I definitely wouldn't run anything bigger than a 33. And just forget about it if you put a locker in it...

Yea... I just bought this jeep and its required a lot of work. I used to be more of a fast/ low car guy, I had a 2000 z28, so I know squat about 4x4. I'm trying my best to learn as much as I can in a really short time but every parts store I go to steers me wrong (sold me a cv axel to repair my clicking sound, when all i need is a u joint, the wrong oil filter and insisted I was installing it wrong, the wrong u joints...) so I'm trying to find a knowledgable go-to guy in redding, ca but its tough. :/
