HA HA HA . That is totally the last time I have a buddy take a picture of a rear axle for me. I sent him off to take photos of the MJ axle for me while I pulled sensors and a rear widow wiper.

I went to the JY today to double check everything and sure enough, there is a Dana 35 under the rear end. What the...? What axle is this out of? After a bit of searching, it turned out he went looking for a rear out of an Explorer and took that photo...but out of an Expedition ! The axle is friggin' huge and not what I'm looking for. Yikes.

I have to say that I'm proud of this forum for using faulty data (any of my text) to accurately determine what the axle in question was/wasn't. Good work team .

but the cover plate looks different

 

that's out of an expedition? wow. i'da thought maybe an excursion. that is overkill.

 

My 2001 Expedition had a 10.25 Sterling just like that one....with the goofy track bars and all because it had a rear 4 link and coils.
