Default What to look at when buying a jeep

i am looking at a jeep for my father inlaw. he wants a list of trobal spots and i couldn't find a sticky for "buying a used XJ". So i wanted to ask for "trouble spots" to look out for when buying one incase i forgot any thing.

saggy leaf springs, rust esp the rockers and floor boards, cooling system, belts, fluids, 4wd shifting

Check the electrical and cooling systems thoroughly.

as in the electrical you mean like all the switches in the cab and doors. Or do you mean like the electrical under the hood/ how?

Make sure all the lights and other accessories work correctly and there are no issues with the wiring or fuses. Some Cherokees have bad problems with the wiring that are hard to diagnose.

Also check to see how many weekends you will be able to be without it while it is at the shop

How it sounds when it starts ? and maybe how it sounds in the 1st gear.

Let it warm up and make sure there is no leaks.
