what kind of oil
I use sythetic oil in my jeep. I love the Mobil 1 highmilage sythetic oil. Last oil change I tryed using Royal Purple sythetic. Both oils are the top of the line in my mind. I use the K&N oil filters. I also use an oil additive the two that I have tried is the engine restore and Lucas sythetic additive. I like the engine restore more because it quiets downs the valve terain. Average oil change price for me is around $65.00. not cheap but if you love your vehicles it is worth the investment. Also run Chevron fuel.

For a higher mileage vehicle, if you are thinking about running full syn. My suggestion would be to run a blend first, keep an eye on level/leaks. If the blend works well then go ahead and run a full syn. For those of you who do not know, the Valvoline Synpower (full syn) has zinc in it, which is definitely something that these engines need.
I forgot to say that I have not seen a oil leak on my jeep besides the oil pan gasket. After reviewing the original records and my records it turns out that this will be the first time the oil pan gasket will be replaced. I have been running a full sythetic for over three years now. At first when I bought the MJ over 5 years ago I ran a blend to pin point any leaks. I feel full sythetics are safe. Hope this helps.

Whatever the advertised weight the oil is, is what it is regardless of what type. But certain oils are formulated with different materials.
I know its a pricey oil but does anybody run royal purple? I just bought a 02 wj and know nothing about it other than it came from an auction. No real problems other than the normal issues this model has. Planning an oil change and my backyard mechanic suggested I start running royal purple if I want to get the most out of my 4.0
haven't seen other threads talking about this oil. Is it due to the price? I've seen alot of people either run mobile one or rotella
