Got a small JY and am looking to build a cheap, but effective lift. What parts do I need or can I use? I need many options here as my JY is small and I won't have much available to me.

Rear leafs off of a dakota or S-10, rear leafs from an F-150 (will be firm)?
Front springs off of a Grand Cherokee, overland edition?

What else will work?

Ford F150 front coils will give you about 3.5 to 4 inches of lift.

Grand Cherokee coils will only give you about 1-1.5"

grand cherokee coils with 2" spacers
any 2.5" wide leaf spring off a light truck (light as in 1/4 ton) i wouldn't run f-150 or larger springs in an xj, they are thicker to carry more of a load.
some f-150 rear shocks are good for 3-4" lift

i would stray away from f-150 coils, their spring rate is over twice that of a stock xj.

yj brake hoses are good for a 3" lift on an xj, but have fun finding a yj in a yard

I need to replace my suspension because my current STOCK setup is shot. So until I can pull the funds together to buy a complete kit, I'd like to scrap a couple inches of lift out of my local JY. The problem is that the JY is small and there are only a couple late 80s model XJs and one MJ, but they are bone stock. I'm looking to piece a lift from any vehicle in the JY (primarily 80s models, but one 97 Explorer and a newer Excursion) on that will get me somewhere around 3" of lift, yet be functional off road. It doesn't need to be pretty. I don't know what parts I would need so I'm asking for a list of parts that will work so I can get started.

i hear scouring the junkyard for some thunderbird coils may be feasible as well
