what is it? help please!!!
ok i have a 1988 cherokee 4x4 4.0l auto tranny. when i take off from a stop i get a bad shudder feels like the rearend is loose but have checked and cant find anything out of place if i put it in 4x4 and take off it dont do it only does it in 2wd. any help would be great, thanks.

Check your trans and motor mounts before proceeding any further.

Besides mounts, I'd check the rear driveline U-joints. (when the front is pullen it's taking some of the load.) On level ground with the wheels chocked, in neutral, You can see if you can find any play between the ears turning the rear driveline back and forth. Zero play! Also I don't happen to have tried it, but after a bit of a drive I suppose a bad one will be warmer/hot, compared to the other. Pretty common that they fail.

Yep. This Jeep needs some intensive "noggin pokin'".

thanks and i forgot to say i already replaced the rear u-joint. on another note i have been finding alot of help and info here this thing has alot of problems. someone has really done a number on it.
