what have you jerry rigged on your jeep?
I know Im bringing this back from the dead, but I had to share, I thought my exhaust was bad, Till I realized the previous owner of my jeep patched the floor pans.... With road signs, The floor is so soft you can move it with one finger, and there is about 12 road signs zip screwed and glued in under the carpet....Looks like I need to strip it down and grab the plasma and welder haha, This picture doesnt do it justice haha

I wish I had a picture, and I would take some if it didn't require removing my door panel and dealing with all those stupid plastic snaps that break, but the back side of both my hand lock button thing and door handle broke, and I drilled 3 holes in each one and bolted on with 3 tiny little bolts, some precision cut (with tinsnips) pieces of an old license plate to re-attach the latch rods, works great!

Zip ties are a gift from the Jeep gods. they have gotten me through many many trailside disasters with my knarly ol TJ, and a few can be found in very strategic locations on my XJ as well.

I haven`t "jerry rigged" anything major as of yet but have to soon so if any of you guys have some ideas here`s what I am facing...About 2 years ago I hit a deep pothole and all 3 bolts of my motor mount on the engine block side (Passanger side) sheared clean off..The only thing that kept the motor from dropping far was that the bottom of the distributor came to rest on the part of the motor mount still attached to the wheel well area..Had a mechanic friend easy-out the bolts out and replace them and figured everything was fine..A year later hit a bumpy stretch of road and heard that bang and the fan hitting the shroud and knew what happened right away..Mount broke again, this time elogating the holes a bit...Took it to a different mechanic friend and he got the top and front bolts out but couldn`t get the back one easy so I said forget it I`ll make-do with the 2...Long story short was in a bad wreck 6 months ago (Ran into a van from behind) and the impact was enough that the one mount bolt that goes in the hole which is kind of raised up from the block shifted forward and a chunk of that bolt stud came off so you can actually see the threads of the bolt about halfway down..So now my passanger side motor mount is attached to the engine block by 1 good bolt and 1 other one which you can see half the threads of
I know it`s only a matter of time til I hit a hard bump or hole and that things gonna come down..The 3 holes on the engine block are kinda shot as far as re-doing so I`m thinking of some other sort of improvised motor mount backup system that will keep the engine from dropping should those bolts fail..Feel free to crawl under your Cherokees this weekend and look it over and bounce any ideas off me..I have access to a full machine shop with various metal rods, bars, drills and welder so I can make any sort of braket.

It wasn't my Jeep, it was a 1997 Chevy Lumina, a rental car my mom had. We went to the grocery store, and when I went to shut my door, the door wouldn't close. Somehow rear door got jammed in the closed position, even though the door was open. We had to drive home with bungee cords keeping the door closed.
It was a good thing though. We got a free rental upgrade out of this. We got a 2000 Toyota Camry as a replacement, which was much nicer looking and a whole lot more comfortable.

i dont know if this is consitered jerry rigging but on my blazer i kept sliding into trees out on the trails and denting and scartching the body up so i rhino lined the entire truck..after that, on the trails i just bounced off trees left and right and never scratched or dented my blazer again, actually everytime i hit a tree the rhino liner took some of the bark with it!! haha bastard trees payback is a *****!

i didn't rig this it was that way when i bought it, but someone in the past hooked the ignition up to a push button switch. you just turn the key on and then hold the button down to crank my heep. they had the button just hanging from the headlight switch with a piece of string, so i drilled a hole under the dashboard where i could mount the switch, and it couldn't be seen. if i forget and leave the keys in my heep, it won't crank if you try by just turning the key. i've got the switch hid pretty well, i can imagiane some idiot thief trying to steal my heep! lol
(well some ***** did steal my cd player out of it when i was at work)

ya well that was when i had a k-5 blazer which was always like 1000 times wider than all the trails my buddys could bring their jeeps through so i simply widened them a little lol but now i have a jeep myself and i can even get onto atv trails now no problem
