Default What is happening here?? Wobble of death?

I read something in here that was talking about the Wobble of death, which literally sounds like my experiences-however wobble is an understatement! I can be driving 50/55mph+ go over some bumps (or one bump and a curve in the road) and my Jeep starts going off like a machine gun, the entire thing shaking like its falling apart right then. Once I get down to 40mph or so it stops but then triggers when I get up in speed again.

Wtf is going on? My mechanic checked it over and said everything was good-stabilizer bar, wheel barrings... He thought maybe taking the lift kit and wheel extenders off might do the trick. Any input? I have a 99 Cherokee sport

Search "death wobble" there are some many posts it will make your head spin. In the end it all boils down to worn out suspension components.

What all does that entail and what would it cost to do it all?

Replace the stabilizer shock on the steering. I had the same problem. Make sure everything is tight and replace the steering stabilizer shock

No.

OP make sure everything is tight, check your track bar axle side mount and body side mounts, check your tre's for play, alignment, etc.

Double and triple check your ball joints. When I checked mine, I couldn't get them to move at all. I finally just threw some parts at it and got lucky with the first thing I replaced.

Sounds like you might need a new mechanic.

I lucked out. I replaced all 4 tires and it stopped it.
"Death Wobble" I have been driving all types emergency vehicles at fast speeds for years so I kinda have an idea of what to do if " it hits the fan"
The first time I got DW I was on interstate with grandchild. I thought I had blown a tire..pulled over ..everything looked fine. Got back in and drove home. It was a week later and yep it was officially death wobble ..I researched it ..its an experience!

Dont worry about the lift lots of lifted jeeps with no problem. Any loose or worn parts can cause this as well as out of balanced tires. When did it start? Have you done any work before it started?
