Also, tips on doing the radiator flushing?
- Small bottle of brake fluid, only if the foil seal is intact (once the seal is broken, replace the bottle after a year. Dispose of old fluid IAW local regs.)
- Ditch the coolant, keep a large jug of distilled or R/O filtered water. You can use that in the radiator, the battery, or in you. (I keep two 10L jugs in the back)
- If you have limited space, a couple quarts of Dexron won't go amiss. You can use it in the transfer case, in the AW4 (if you have the auto,) but it may be used to replace ANY petroleum-based fluid lubricant to get home - axle, engine, power steering, whatever. (I carry six.)

The idea being keeping spares around is to carry as few different fluids as possible, covering as broad a range of contingencies as possible. The only thing you really can't "improvise" with is brake fluid - that one has to be carried special. Everything else? You've got options.

Hey, Mitch, the Mobil 1 is an excellent oil, just not for the 4.0. After researching on BITOG, I've learned that it has the worst.used oil analyses of the high-grade full synthetics. You should switch to Pennzoil Ultra or Platinum, or go to my thread on the BITOG forum and take a pick of the best ones mentioned.

I have Lucas Trannsmission Fix StopSlip in my 2001s 65,820 mile AW4, my 99s 2 Wheel drive 141,625mile AW4, my 1987 Black Cherokees 297,878mile AW4(which really did Need it), and they are All working Fine. My parents 2001 Cherokees around 125,??? mile AW4 also has a 24oz? I believe bottle in it, and shifts and works Absolutely Perfect YearRound. I havent found any reason Not to use it, sometimes Jeeps get pushed Kinda Hard, i know, and a little bit of Added Protection dosent Hurt.

Stock system cooling for the AW4 is poor, especially this time of Year, Lucas StopSlip Helps.

The fact that your trans' are running fine with Lucas installed does not mean it's doing anything positive, only that it hasn't blown them up. Seriously, if the stuff did anything useful it'd be factory fill. No trans manufacturer of any sort uses or recommends it.

You are correct that the stock trans cooling is marginal. A simple external cooler fixes that without altering the fluid viscosity or line pressure. I have ~240K miles on my AW4 with nothing but Dex III in it. I always install external coolers and have had exactly (2) transmission failures in 40+ years. A Chrysler Minivan (diff pin) and a Ford DOA. Whoops- I mean AOD that blew it's seals. Lucas would've prevented neither.
I'm not against additives if they serve a purpose, the purpose of this one is to crank the line pressure up to get a slipping trans to grab again so you can drive to the scrapyard and get another. It works for that. It doesn't do anything else.
