Hey y'all. Just finished tearing down my engine. Knew i had a broken skirt when i found peices of it in the oil pan. Just wondering what could have caused it! It didnt spin a bearing. The crank looks fine, gonna have it polished. Nothing was loose. Maybe it was just over-revved? Weak link on the 96-98 motors from the factory?

 

Lots of things can cause that. Overreving, overheating, or just a flaw on the piston. You'll probably never know. How's the block look?

Yeah me neither. The block actually looks ok. Gonna have it vatted to clean it up. There were no gouges or scratches on that cylinder wall believe it or not! Gonna mic with a dial bore gage as soon as i can borrow one from work. It looks rebuildable. Thanks.
