I agree with paroxysym on the trailjammer package deal. For the bloated price of that thing you could hit the local parts store and peice together your own short ram intake and have money left over for an inexpensive exhaust setup like a dynomax kit. That is if performance is what you are after. But that's just my opinion...

Computer chips do nothing in XJ's people think those things are great all they do is F over your computer and mess everything up including gas milage, i mean if the computer could be programed for better gas milage why would'nt the auto maker take advantage of it? As for the CAI will you can make your own for cheap and boaring the TB well thats the only plus i see with that kit. I agree with these guys its a jeep not a sports car.

As for the lift I would go with the RE much better value.

And as for going bigger yeah you will like 2.5" inches for a while then you will want to go bigger so you add shackles and spacers that nets you if your lucky 4.5". theAs to if you start with the RE you get 3.5" then when you want to go bigger you can get up to 5.5" then if you want to go bigger you need long arms so its just smarter to do it right the first time

BTW im not tring to be a dick I mean its your jeep build it how you want to. But thats just the way i see it and i thought i would share it

Only perfpormance upgrades worth a damn for these things are: exhaust, bigger throttle body, and depending on your year a manifold. Stock airbox flows plenty of air to these motors, computer runs these motors to the best of their ability... Want performance? Bigger throttle body, free-flowing exhaust and regear. Spend the extra money on lift stuff and skid.

my debate with getting the trail jammer kit was the chip. the way it add up to me is:

kit = 650 shipped
cai = 200
tb = 250

so the chip is 200 bucks that idc about or realy want.

so i was deciding if i wanted to just get a tb and cai or get the kit and i just picked to be lazy and jsut get one page deal and hope for the cool decals in the box

I'm running OME 2.5" lift, have been for over 7 years and handy 100k miles. (even same shocks!)
I'm able to run 33" tires, and rti 860, and my fenders are not hacked to h-e-double L.
I have no intention of going higher, but may go to 34" tires when these wear out.

I would gear the rig properly before I ever spent money looking for 10hp.

dont get me wrong, im a fan of the OME. just hearing about the ride and stuff makes me want to purchase one. but after hearing its going to coast more than a RE superflex 3.5"- im a but pissed. so now my lift choices are still up in the air as far as that goes.

as for your CAI and TB... why the CAI? does nothing for mileage, makes your jeep sound cool with a little whistle action- but thats about it. why not take half that CAI money and grab a different muffler and throw that in and a leigh throttle body and be done with it... www.strokedjeep.com

the debate with the ome kit is some ppl say u need to buy all the extra stuff some say u dont. you can benefit from having the new gear that is not in the kit but the only thing u need to make sure u get that is not in the kit is the brushings for the leaf springs.

If you do some wheeling its a good idea to do the lift first. WHY? Simple, in my opinion you have a good running platform so there is no need for more power since the cherokee isn't much of a slouch in stock form. The lift will allow you to go just a bit further and make the look of the rig that much better. Then I would do exhaust and intake, and a TB spacer. Finished

I have installed an Edelbrock titanium header on my 97 Jeep Cherokee, but if to do again, I would probably go with Gibson.

The header will let your Jeep breathe better, while saving for lift kit, tires, skid plates, etc.
