Make sure you put the rotor in correctly also. Check for spark! You need three things. Fuel. Air. Spark.

As suggested make sure you have spark and if not see how far along the line the power stops. I guess you checked all the easy stuff but just to make sure there are a number of fuses and relays that can blow whenever messing with anything electrical.

in order for an internal combustion engine to run it needs 4 basic things fuel air spark and compression. check for these. check fuel by 1. listning for fuel pump when you turn the key to the on position 2. get a fuel presser testerand test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail spark 1. pull a plug hold it close to something metal wilth wire on it have a buddy crank the jeep see what color it is blue is good orange is no good possible need a coil compression get a compression tester and make sure u have compression in the cylinders.

def do this first. and if you need to check for spark pull the plug wire off of the plug then crank it over hold the wire near the block or plug. no need to pull the entire spark plug out.

not sure if thats what ckysodkorn xj ment by pulling the plug;...lol. but still no need for that. plug wire will yeild same results.

Or just check firing order. Just pulling the plug well tell you if you have spark, won't tell you the right order though.

Coil wire to dizzy cap installed? Even if the firing order was wrong, it will still TRY to fire. Itll just stumble, cough, spit and backfire. If the coil wire is not connected, nothing will happen, the motor will just turn and turn, wont fire up.

Going WAY too deep into the weeds there. Check the obvious.....plug/coil wire(s)

Bet you pulled all the wires of at one time didnt you?
I place my bet on firing order. Sometimes if it is off just right it will not hit at all. I had the same problem witha V-dub I was working on a while back, racked my brain for an hour or so before my dad (old school VW guru) came out and took one glimpse and said "Firing order is wrong dummy"

Did that just a couple days ago myself. I disconnected it to get a better look at the engine mounts, forgot to plug it back in and later on in the day had to leave and it wouldn't start.
