Your gauge is in Celsius and ours are in Fahrenheit. Let's start over.

I always verify using an infrared point and shoot thermometer pointed directly at the thermostat housing. That gets you close to the actual coolant temperature.

Don't want to be chasing a ghost.....test.
so if it does read hot aswell then its prob the t stat?

I just changed mine yesterday and put in a 195. It's interesting though if you look on any of the auto parts store websites they show a 160, 180 or 195 thermostat option for the XJ so appearently there is some valid reason to use those.

BUT... I also drilled two 1/8th holes at six and twelve to help burp it, so I guess there is always a way through the t-stat...

We have been running a 180F t-stat for 2 years now. This time of year, the ScanGauge floats +/-180F-195F. Not so 6-7 months from now. Any temp gauge that indicates 210 (or middle) year round is rigged if it's a factory gauge or broken if it's aftermarket.

Lol I hate repeating myself, but I understand your disbelief! I live in Canada, my jeep has always had a hard time warming up, even in summer, and my electric fan comes on right at 100c and the clutch fan is new...so for how cheap t-stats are and how easily its replaced...I figured why not try it out? When summer rolls around again it might be a different story though...

I'm just saying I've never heard of, or seen, a 210F t-stat......195F, 180F, 160F yes, but not a 210. That's a new one on me....learn something new everyday.
