Default What bumper to minimize deer damage?

Odd question I know, but out here in Northern Wyoming, we have road rats everywhere and I've heard too many stories about vehicles being totalled. The problem is that you have to be constantly on guard. I was riding my motorcycle on main street downtown (1700ppl) this fall when a huge buck rounded the corner of a KFC and was headed straight at me in my lane. That is only one incidence. Shoot. I have my trees wrapped so that the deer don't eat/rutt them to shreads.

I need some protection. I'd like a good bumper that will protect the XJ's body well. I don't do much wheelin (only minor stuff to get to fishin' holes in the Big Horn Mountains). I'm also shooting for cost effective, so although you get what you pay for, I'm looking to maximize my dollar.

Thanks for the help,
s

I used to have one of these Daystar Four Real bumpers. Theyre pretty strong too. This is what happened when I hit a tree at 35

Pretty much any reinforced bumper with strong welded (one piece if possilbe) brush guard or push bar would help. Warn, ARB etc to name a few.

I would go with a push bar. My boyfriend just bought one for his Bronco and it seems to be pretty durn strong!

i actually thought of the same question when i got a bumper because i live in Wisconsin and finding a bumper to take on a deer was high on the list.

i love my arb. it expensive brand new but i bought it used to it wasnt bad. the warn bumper is supposed to be rock solid. but really anything beefy. tntcustoms make a nice bumper as well for a decent price.

Now you're talkin'. There are too many applications for a cattle guard (e.g., shopping carts, etc.).

I like that that covers the headlights too. Probably would save the XJ from a lot of damage. Too bad the site doesn't give prices.

I just gotta ask...

Has anyone even hit a deer with one of those things on?

Nothing like tenderizing your dinner before you even get it home and cooked!
