Same thing happend to me a few days ago on my '99. Blew lower hose and drove for a mile or so.
I patched things up with a new hose and pump, getting a misfire on #1, rough idle and consuming a couple quarts of coolant every 50 miles.
I think pulling the head is in my very near future.
Does your Jeep still run rough? Did you clear the codes?

Described it to a mechanic friend. He wasn't to concerned. Told me to drive it a bit and see what happens. I changed my oil. (water got in my oil by the lifters because I forgot to drain the cooling system before removing the head.) I didn't clear the codes, but it's idling much smoother now, no longer misfiring, after driving it for a bit. I'm going to run some sea foam through the crank case for a few hundred miles and change the oil and filter.

If you're going though that much coolant check your oil on the dipstick. See if your coolant is in your oil. Also pop your cap off the radiator and start her up and see if you've got exhaust coming into your cooling system.

I've also recently overheated my jeep and its now idling rough and misfiring, I've tracked it down to either head or head gasket (hopefully the gasket) and will be doing this soon.
Any tips or advice would be great.

Drain coolant before you remove the head. I labeled everything. Injector wires, plug wires, bolts, etc. Take your time.
