what is the black canister behind front bumper

I just saw a broken vacuum line going to this can but I don't no what it is or what it does

It runs vacuum to the heater vents, cruise control and auto trans kickdown. I relocated mine to inside the engine compartment

a thing a ma jigg. I zip tied mine to the coolant overflow bottle.
