This is no study but my friend used Lucas in his power steering on his Dodge Aspen and it worked... He used it in his '87 Chevy Short Wide with 33" tires and it worked. I trust that man with my life so I decided to use it in my Jeep when the steering became heavy and started whining... I filled it, the old regular power steering fluid was forced out after a bit and then I topped it off with Lucas. My steering is like butter with 31" tires. No noise, no effort, no leaks... period.

LOL The first time I changed oil was in my friends 1978 Camaro with a 305 V8... We bought a case of oil lol... I put 12 Quarts in lololol!!! We had no clue, it was the first car either of us ever worked on. Same car a year later, we put headers on and did the weights in the dizzy... I crossed two spark plug wires on the passenger side of the engine... Header was literally super bright orange and glowing like the sun!! Good times lol

On my 1982 280zx I used a can of Seafoam, did the vacuum tube to the intake (brake booster line) half a can and then the rest in the tank. LOTS of white smoke and rough idle for a little bit but the car did feel better than before. I also ran a quarter can in the gas tank of my Kawasaki 440 LTD... did not notice any change.

I always have 2 cases of oil on hand. I'm a pack rat I guess. No kidding! I would have blown the motor for sure.

For the past 10+ years I've used nothing but MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil). A Quart with the oil at every change and a touch with the gas once or twice a month. I might run a bottle of lucas injector cleaner through once a year, if that... Seems to be working so far! 268,000 miles and no issues what so ever. Only thing I've ever had to do to it was change the water pump

My dad sometimes empties unused boat gas (mixed oil with gas) into his truck but only with 18+ gallons of regular fuel. Aint the best of additives...haha

I use amsoils PI sometimes in my gas and i love their
"coolant blast" that you add to your antifreeze.. it reall does make it run significantly cooler... http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/rdcb.aspx
In my Dirt bike i run alot of their other aditives as well
i run amsoil fluids everywhere in my jeep - engine, tranny, their antifreeze, gear lube... everywhere- first time i used them was in my CR250R- and it actually idled with the amsoil and had a little more umpf compared to the honda racing oil... got me hooked! it was kinda expensive for all the fluids in the jeep but i was getting 22-24 mpg before damaging my exhaust with a 6.5 inch lift and 34s... they make good stuff
granted i have 4.10 gears, borla exhaust, spectre filter, and i always buy the most expensive plugs i can find lol.. but it deffinitly runs smooth with the amsoil stuff!

I have alot of experience with oil additives, not with jeeps but with muscle cars.
I run a high compression 11.0-1 360 small block mopar with a solid, high lift cam and I need to use high zinc additives to keep the metal parts lubed while the engine is off etc.
For some reason I have had the best results with Lucas oil stabilizer (one quart-tall bottle, very thick stuff.)
With my solid lift camshaft I have alot of valve train noise-sounds like a sewing machine, but I have tried the hughes engine oil treatment, and various others but it seems that I have had much less noise with the lucas stabilizer, and the only reason I tried it is because almost all of my buddies with hot rods and muscle cars swear by the stuff.
I was getting some oil loss with other oils and additives but since using the lucas stuff my rings seem to have seated fully and I have no oil loss and the engine is much quieter, compression is great and it runs like a champ pushing 450 horsies.
I also like seafoam and I use BG-44-k but you can't get BG in the auto parts stores.
Stay away from STP oil treatment, I blew a headgasket in a 318 Valiant the very day I put it in.
Redline does make some very nice products and I have used their water wetter stuff with good results on hot summer days in my barracuda which tends to run hot when it above 90-deg outside in stop and go traffic.
I have also used the royal purple, purple ice coolant additive with good results.
As far as high zinc oil I use Spectro motor guard conventional 10-w 40 in my muscle car with the lucas additive.
Just a note about octane booster from lucas- lucas is the best octane boost on the market and will boost you three octane points, but it don't matter how many bottles you pour in, you will still only get three octane points as I called the number on the bottle to ask that question and spoke to one of their tech guys.
I am still learning about the Jeeps so i don't know what works well as far as additives, octane ratings and such, but you can't go wrong using a can of seafoam in the gas tank every now and then, but i would probably change the fuel filter first before using the seafoam if you are not sure how old the filter is because that stuff has acetone in it and will break up alot of crud especially through your filter and you don't want any of that crap making it's way to your injectors.

Octane Booster is just a higher grade octane fuel. It's like adding 93 octane to a gas tank that has only 89 octane in it. No matter how much 93 octane you add in, you won't go any higher than 93 octane. At least that's my understanding of octane boosters...

yea...that's definitely not correct. They are additive. That being said, Octane boosters are a worthless scam.
Do they work? Of course, but not how you would think.
You know those "points" it raises your octane by? Well 3 points does not turn 87 octane into 90 octane, it turns 87 octane into 87.3 octane. One "point" = 1/10th of an octane rating.
You'd need 4-5 bottles before you really raised the octane by any significant amount...
