Default What is this?

I pulled the stock bumper off my 98 xj sport. I'm putting a different on. Not realizing there is a black ball mounted behind it on the passenger side. What is that black ball and should is remove or relocate it.

Vacuum reservoir. You'll need it!

I followed the hose that was connected to it and it led back to the intake manifold.

That helps. I'll re locate it then. One more thing, two of the three bolts broke on my power steering pump. Any thoughts on how long it will last missing two bolts. Should I attempt to drill out the old bolts or just replace the pump?

Most people relocate the vacuum ball up to the firewall or fender when they swap out their bumpers. It's not difficult.

One guy even painted his like a soccer ball.

Search on the board for "vacuum reservoir" or "vacuum ball" and you'll find lots of threads about this, complete with pictures.

It should also have a small tube back into the dash for the heater controls. Like Shaky says, search that and you will find plenty!
