It's for the keyless entry, early models use an IR remote and that is the sensor.

Only 2 posts before the truth comes out?

FWIW, don't bother hunting down the remote for it, the system wasn't that great when it was new. Basically had to hold the remote up to the window to get it to work.

We named it the get skinny button. Front passenger always has to push it when I say get skinny. Lol its our fun way of making use for it since I don't need key less entry when its doorless.

That was my next question! Lol so I'll scratch that idea and wait till I put in the remote starter, I gotta tell ya's this by far is the best site I vet been on, you guys been spot on with my problems and quick too! Thanks a lot!

You can get an aftermarket alarm system with the remote start, it will cost under 500 installed. The factory IR system is pretty crappy at its best.
