Is there any common spot where water likes to get in and settle on the passenger floorboard. Noticed it while running wires for the stereo. It's an 88 comanche. Doesn't lose coolant so I know it's not the heater core leaking. Floor was soaked after rain and ice melting from the frost we been having. I don't want to rust out the floors. If it weren't raining right now I'd pull the carpet out.

 

Same thing is happening in my 99 Cherokee but on the drivers side. I was looking at the seal for the windshield and noticed in the top drivers side corner a spot that doesnt have any trim covering it probably a 1/4 inch wide at the biggest and an inch going down the windshield in a triangle shape. When I first got the Jeep it leaked straight through the top of the windshield so I just put duct tape along it. Going to try the same thing with this hole. Its either the windshield seal broke or maybe a hole rusted in near the windshield and now water is getting in. Once spring comes i'm going to just reseal the windshield. Thank God for duct tape though!

 

I've had the windshield replaced back when I bought the jeep. I'm going to just wait till the rain stops to remove the carpet.

 

Inside the cowl, there's drain holes that like to get plugged up. Check these.

 

That would be my guess also.

 

X2 on xj914. I have mine leaking on both sides. That little part that doesn't have trim has been having me ponder that for awhile now. Doesn't hurt to check that out as well.

 

Can you point me more directly to these drain holes? I am having the same issue on my passenger side as well.

 

Well it's snowing here in NY and I never got to cover that hole so after today I will have to check under my mats and see if there's water there. If so I am going to plug it up and see if that works

 

Have u checked ur seals on the door or windows... through time they tend to lose their rubber bounce or strenght... whatever u want to call it... on bleeping jeep .com they used I think a 1/4 inch nylon rope and placed the rope in between the seal and the door... it could be that?

 

It does need new door and window seals but the floor is only wet under carpet. It's dry up top. I'm gonna check the cowl drain holes....... Anybody point me in the direction of them?

Not sure, always thought those holes were under the cowl area ( removing wiper blades and that cover) and it should be 2 holes on each opposite corner

 

My pass side leak was in the antenna rubber. Didn't look like it wasn't sealing. Rubbed some silicone around it and good to go.

 

Pulled the seats and console out today to get the carpet out of the jeep. There's water stains coming from up where the heater lines and ac lines pass through the firewall. Drove it to get up to temp and I haven't seen anything flowing down the stains. Waiting for some rain to see if any thing shows up. Best part only surface rust was found while taking carpet out. When the weather dries up I'm gonna bed line the interior.

 

Found the water leak. Of course it is coming from the hole I drilled in the firewall to run the power wire to my stereo. Silicone to the rescue! It's also nice and clean now too
