Default Wet driver & passenger floor.

Yesterday I got in my 01 cherokee and noticed my drivers & passenger side floor mats were wet. I haven't drove the jeep in about a week, the windows were up and I has rained for about a week staright. Any suggestions what might be causing my floors to get wet or were it could be leaking from? Thanks.

It's the front floor mats.

Sit in the jeep and get someone to spray it down with a hose (not to strong or you'll push water in anyway) and you should be able to figure out where it's coming in.

Wouldn't expect it from sitting, but that's where the water goes if the AC condenser drain-pan tube plugs up. On my 90 the drain comes out below the coolant bottle. Compressed air has been used.

x2 on the hose. The air intake there could have junk making it overflow.

Windshield seal is a possibility.

Would the air intake & the a/c condensor cause it to leak on both sides in the front?

The ac will only leak on the left if the pan is full and you make a hard right. Odd feeling when your right foot is suddenly wet!
Added:
On my 90 the windshield glues flat on a lip/flange. I suppose driving, air could force water up over the lip the windshield goes over. Across the top it relies on the seal and would drip down the window.

Both sides seem to be equally wet, from just sitting after it rained.

You could try looking into the windshield seal.

Well sir,,,, on mine it is the door weatherstripping and vent windows seal being shot causing this.

vacuum out that water right away or your floor pans WILL rust out.

one thing you might do, provided they are there is......

get underneath, right under the drivers side where your feet go, also same for passenger side, and see if you have like these 2 inch diameter disks (is what they look like, might be one inch in diameter, i am at work so i can't go look) and they are either covered with the waterproofing coating that the whole jeep has underneath it or maybe not,,,,but.....you can remove those to let any water accumulated drain out.

my floor pans are totally shot and rusted and I have yet to order the new ones to put in, ( that will be a all weekend friggin project, cuz of all the stuff I gotta take out, yeechhh, not to mention the grinding and rustproofing I have to do to drop new ones in.)

anyway, your year probably does not have the vent windows, but mine does and the leak is the combination of the door weatherstripping and the worn seal(s) on the vent windows.......

like previous poster said,,,,sit in car have someone put hose stream over top of doors on both sides, you will see where its coming from...

just my input sir.

I am having the same problems. On the drivers side, it gets really wet. No holes in the floor underneath. I replaced the windshield seal when the windshield was replaced. On the passenger side, i do have a hole in the floor which is what makes it get wet when i drive in the rain usually....I am gonna keep in touch with this thread, I always try to figure it out for the driver's side but cant...

Good call on the door weather stripping. Neglected that.

I'm dealing with this right now. Pulled back the wet passenger carpet and poured a cup of water over the air intake area (blower)...water comes in immediately. going to remove the blower tonight and RTV around the seal.

You might check this area...but not sure it would make both floor pans wet. Have you had the windshield replaced?? read a lot of posts (while researching my issue) about faulty replacement w/s installations.

To my knowledge, it's the originial windshield. I'm the 2nd owner of this jeep.

That doesn't mean it isn't damaged and leaking. I have fact, I would say having original equipment would make it more likely to leak since its old.
