axle tube seal, too bad it doesnt do a very good job of sealing it lol

nah on early XJs it's basically just a dust cap - it doesn't seal anything. Don't worry about it too much, or grab one off another XJ the next time you're at the JY.

temporarily it's fine. I would replace it just to keep dirt, mud, snow, small animals, insects, and all manner of unmentionables from setting up camp in your axle tubes.

Those dont look broke. Unless there are major rips or holes dont bother. if there worped heat them and bend back in shape.
