Default Well, on the upside, the timing couldn't be worse...

Came home today and pulled into the garage. Head a strange knock and felt a weird clunk when I did. i thought maybe I just hit the raised lip of the driveway to garage floor transition weird or something. Went out just now to pick up dinner and had an insanely bad shaking and knocking while backing up the driveway. long story short, it looks like all me driver's side motor mount bolts broke off at the block. Awesome.

And this was the last weekend the wife and I had to pack and get ready for our move into a new house next Wednesday.

Eff me...

I hope it wants to move. Nicer garage and a fully shaded driveway to get out of this Texas heat. There are three bolts; two that are inline just above the oil pan, and a third that is a bit higher up. Looks like one of the lower had just fallen out completely. The other lower one sheared off with enough sticking out of the block to get some vice grips on it and twist it out. The upper one sheared off flush with the block. Since I'm moving, nearly all my tools, including my drills, drill bits, and broken bolt extractors are boxed up already. My lovely wife drove me to Home Depot 5 minutes before they closed and I got some grade 8 replacements for the two bottom ones. That should hold me for a few weeks until I can get moved and have time to unbox all my tools and tackle that third bolt.

Could have been a lot worse, and I suppose I'm glad it failed now instead of a few days from now when I'd have a trailer full of my worldly possession hooked up to the back of the XJ trying to move it all across town.
