Weird steering pull in slushy/icy conditions.
I have a '89 XJ and going into the winter I've noticed some weird things about its driving. In 4x4 Full Time (NP242) when the tires are on somewhat different surfaces (one on slush other on ice, one on pavement other on snow)while driving it pulls pretty hard to the side that would logically have more traction. It's pretty scary to drive it so it's sitting for now. It's somewhat random and seems to increase how often it happens the longer the car is driven. My dad pointed out that the output yoke on the transfer case was extremely hot and said a bearing is probably going bad in that. Aside from that he suggests that maybe a differential is to blame for this issue. It seems like a wheel is "sticking" and pulling to that side. Anyone ever had this problem? Anyone have ideas? Pulling diff covers and transfer case to check everything out tomorrow.

with limited slip diffs, i think it's just the nature of the beast. the tc being hot may be a bearing starting to fail but i would think it would pull to a specific side.

On a side note, I also have a Jeep Grand Cherokee which drives perfectly under the same conditions.
