since i bought my jeep when i turn on the a/c parked it makes this chirping sqeak sound and when i would drive it squeals like crazy and then stop after about 10-15 seconds. today i changed the belt and the tensioner. i also replaced the a/c compressor cause it was shot. still was squealing. i knew the alternator was about to go so i replaced it and its still squealing. the water pump looks like its been replaced before. i cant figure it out.
Any help would be great thanks

is it the same exact noise from before you changed the belt?
they dont always seat properly, or if theres anything on one of the pullies, it'll cause a squeal from the belt rubbing on it.
also, make sure you didnt run over a bunny, they tend to squeal..its unlike any sound you've heard before (eeerie actually..lol)

Did you replace the tensioner? it will come with a couple of spacers that you install on the bolt between it and the block to allign all belt handling parts. A dab of oil from a zoom spout helps on all bearings to the pulleys too.

Idler or belt. I get a constant squeek from my idler. After replacing the water pump, the new belt from Autozone squeeked right after instalation. I pulled it and kept it as a spare and put the gently worn belt back on.

Maybe just the belts still not tight enough?
I read that you twist the belt where it goes between the AC compressor and the water pump. If it twists 90 degrees or more, it's too loose. I used that "rule of thumb" when I did my belt recently. No squealing from the AC (it did before) and well....the belt hasn't broken yet

Sounds like the belt is too loose. My dad has been a chrysler tech for 30 years and I had asked him the same question cuz mine did that too and as soon as I tightened it the noise was gone.

by the way, to see if it is the belt or the pulley,, start the jeep and hold a bar of soap against the belt for a bit. If it gets rid of the noise it is the belt/tension. (not fool proof but it is a good trick to know)
