Default Weird oil pressure problem after an accident

1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport I lost control of my car, went across a wide median, across two lanes of traffic, spun around 180 degrees, and went 25 or so feet down over a hill. The Jeep looks and runs fine cause it's a Jeep, and it's supposed to go off road. Just not like that.

Before the accident the oil pressure gauge always read at approx. 49. It was never right at center (40). Right after the accident the gauge would go up to 80 when I accelerated, then drop down to around 60. Sometimes it would go down to 50 for awhile and then go back up to 60. Sometimes it still goes up almost to 80 and then drops down some. No consistency. I drove for 25 or so miles with cruise control on at 60mph, and the gauge stayed right at 50. Did not move. The oil is full, and there is no oil leaking under the car. Any guesses as to what is the problem is and what I need to do to fix this? Thanks.

You've got all the story you need to answer the question. If you actually have an answer. Which I doubt.

Anybody got any Troll Spray? I'm fresh out.

Normally when you get a reading of 80psi means that the oil pressure sending unit is on it's way out.

Ok, I'll replace the oil pressure sending unit. So, when I see the pressure going up to 80 with a bad sending unit, is the pressure really that high, or is that a false reading because the sending unit is bad?

Do us all a favor and do not get behind the wheel until your medical issue is resolved. You're lucky you didn't get killed, why chance killing some innocent person.
