Default Weird Brake Question

I had seen on tv that someone replaced a Cherokees front spindles with those from a Grand Cherokee so as to fit in Grand Cherokee brakes. Has anyone heard of this? Is this a common swap? They showed that it was easy, but when I went back to watch it... it was deleted off my DVR! Stopping in my XJ is an ... um ... adventure! I am looking for a good cheap brake upgrade. I don't have the budget to go out and buy a nice shiny new after market system.

I got my pads for $30-something for the set and my rotors (drilled) on ebay for $70. If you want, check them out...

I got adaptive one pad from napa, and a set of napa premium rotors not drilled or slotted and stop on a dime. you can also spend alot of money and get the drums switched to disks in the rear. Then you can stop on a crack

if you're gonna go that far, you should replace the master cylinder with one from either a zj or wj also. they have a dual diaphragm where as the xj has only a single.

Question for you guys. What years of WJs would work for me to do this front brake swap over to my 91 XJ? Sounds like a good upgrade to me.

you need to do a little more than just swap the WJ brakes. you need to change the knuckles steering and maybe outer axle shafts. its a worthwhile swap though because of the upgraded steering and brakes
