weak starting power
its getting cold in massachusetts now and ive noticed my jeep having a harder time starting. i have a 1 year old duralast battery in there and it was doing fine before. now i notice that its taking longer to crank and seems weaker. connections are clean and tight. when on auxillary my battery gauge shows a little over 9. should it be higher? or is that where yours is also before you crank it? TIA

i could be wrong but how cold is it getting down there? whats your average temp? you might want to consider a heavier oil weight. just my 2 cents.

yea when its running its either at 14 or a little above but before i start it i usually put it in aux. and listen to the fuel pump prime then crank it but before i crank it its only at 9 or 10. so this is deff. a battery problem? bcz its only a year old battery and there not all that cheap ha

its about 30F now and with wind chill prob like 20F, especially at night. what oil weight would you recommend? and i dont think that has to do with low battery voltage..but it could with the longer cranking time.

My 87 is doing the same thing and we are around 10 the last few days. Didnt have a problem the last few winters (Ohio) but I put a cheap battery in last summer. ThinkI might get a better battery

i dont know why, but cold just seems to screw with batteries. for instance, if you have a 5 year battery, during the winter of the 4th year, you might start havin problems with it, its happened to me. same thing tho, mines been hurtin a little bit on the start, prolly just cause its cold

just my opinion but if your have to put a battery in, go big. more amps mean longer/stronger cranking power. i have a 1000 cca battery and have no trouble at all even when it got down to 9 the other day.
