If you expect a quality answer you need to post a quality question. What you posted is an overly simplistic question to a process that involves thought and a good degree of capability on your part. Are you going to be totally submerging it? Or do you just want to prevent problems when fording knee-deep water? Are you willing to “snorkel” your intake and exhaust?
There are also other trade-offs when going totally water tight, such as plugging the breather hole in the distributor cap and getting rid of the mechanical fan. And, it’s not just the engine you’ll have to waterproof because the trans, transfer case and axles also have breathers that are open to atmosphere. U-joints, slip joints, axle seals and bearings will all need more attention.
Maybe you should start by making a checklist that is more comprehensive than “No one knows how to waterproof their distributor and electrical stuff under the hood?”
