Water pump replacement
So I havent had any over-heating issues yet, but I decided to replace some cooling system parts because I dont know how well she was treated by the PO and I want her to last a long time. I bought a new water pump, hoses, thermostat/gasket etc... I am going to try tacking this over the weekend, but as I was looking under the hood today to get familiar with what I am going to have to do, I noticed another part that I should probably replace as well but I cant seem to find where to find it, as it might be a dealer-only part. It is the hard line that screws into the water pump that connects to the soft line that goes to the firewall and i would think the heater. The one I have is severely rusted/corroded and I do not think I should use it on the new pump. Can I get this at a regular shop, or am I going to have to make a special trip to the dealer?
Thanks
Thanks

that pipe is probably salvageable.
Mine looked like utter crap, but I wire brushed it. Looks much better and I was able to check for any thin or broken spots.
I reused mine. Just be careful not to break it.

Make sure you get the screw in one and not the press in one...most auto parts stores carry both...or they can order them...I would replace it if you get one before you start..I did mine and was able to save the old one but when i did my buddies it broke when we tried to transfer it.

Good luck on the water pump! I just changed mine the other day and it took 4 hours for me (16 year old teenager) and my dad to change. It sucks but its not tottaly bad. Just takes time. Good luck

It is just a metal piece.
It is only 15$, so Ill probably do it anyways, was just curious
Look at it this way, if you replace all cooling system components at the same time, you only have to drain and refill the coolant once

water pumps are a piece of cake, i did one on the trails in my 1998 in less then a hour. use this stuff called 1minute gasket it lives up to its name, and works amazing. also make sure that hard line out of the water pump is lined up the same as when it came off the old water pump.

Might be too late but u can get a brass 5/8" hose barb X 3/8" MNPT nipple at just about any hardware store for $2-3 and it will never rust/corrode.....u will need a little longer 5/8" heater hose.
