Default Water Pump Pulley Removal??

Trying to replace my water pump...removed the 4 bolts that attach the pulley to the water pump, however the pulley doesn't want to come off!! I don't want to use too much force due to warping the pulley...but how else is it supposed to come off?

A 3/8" MPT X 5/8" hose barb brass nipple is way cheaper than the factory metal tube and will never rust/corrode. Get it most any hardware store....it does require a longer 5/8" heater hose.

what's your definition of extreme cold? I live in NY...coldest during winter usually gets to about 15 degrees overnight.

I'm having a much harder time with this than the OP. Any other tricks? and there is no way this could be pressed on right? there is something in the center of the pulley that looks like it might be.

Brass is softer than almost any other metal used for fittings. I'm thinking defective parts.

Rolled the dice and beat the **** out of the pulley. After soaking it in PB blaster it did end up coming off but I did dent the pulley ever so slightly when I was attempting to pry it off. It shouldn't affect it in any way though.

Oh yes it should!

Best case, you'll go through belts faster than you should because they are now wobbling on the bent pulley.

Worst case, you messed up the water pump shaft seal, and you'll be replacing it soon.

That's why you should never use a hammer or any kind of prying on a pulley mounted on a shaft.

That's why they sell pulley removal tools.

That's why Autozone and Advance Auto will rent you one for FREE.

One word: Rust.

Brass is your friend. It doesn't mind cold. Somebody got defective parts or did something else wrong.
