Water pump dripping

Default Water pump dripping

So i just replaced my water pump i torqued it down to 45 ftlbs but it drips a little how much should i torque the bolts down to? Or do i need to do the gasket agaon?

according to factory service manual from jeep/ chrysler its only supposed to be 17 ftlbs... you deff. need a gasket and could have warped mating surfaces...

i'm going to redo the gasket do you recomend i use rtv with it or just the gasket?

RTV will do, but they also make a specialized water pump gasket sealer. I usually go for that. Cranking that thing down to 45 ft lbs could have ruined it to be honest. Good luck.

do you think it may just be warped on the water pump side or both sides?

could have been both sides so take a small straight edge and check for warpage on both mating surfaces...

Also make sure the mating surface is perfectly clean of all old gasket material.

It also doesn't hurt to use both the gasket and RTV or gasket sealer.

so now i'm going take the pump and see whats going on there. i went to the parts store but they didn't have a gasket. will it be ok just to use RTV black thats what i have in hand
