Any time I hit a puddle with my 96 XJ I lose power steering for a short time. Sometimes the belt squeals, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not talking major puddles either, just daily driving in the rain stuff.

Does anyone else have this problem? It does it when I hit a puddle with the passenger side front wheel. I've had 4 XJ's and never had this happen. Could I be missing something or is their an aftermarket splash guard I could find?

 

sounds like you need a new belt. or you need to adjust the tension on the belt to tighten it up. the belt is probably slipping on the pulley with the water.
