Water leaking in
So we had some heavy rain here over the weekend. I have a 89 xj. Floors had water but I think the water come from the fire wall area and slides down to the floors. Is there a drain in that front cowl area not draining the water or is it the windshield?

I suppose it could leak through the cowl, I have seen someone make a water dam that is installed in cowl.
From firewall it could leak through where the blower motor attaches.
Also from the inside rear corners of engine bay, just outside of hinges. Body panels come together there and the factory uses a putty to seal them, putty can become brittle and fall off.
Also check under weatherstrip around windshield.

Leaks come from a variety of places. Google it and you will see. I am getting a passenger side leak on my floor and am almost positive it is coming from the top of the windshield just left of the passenger side visor and dripping down. This will be addressed soon. Already bought a new Mopar rubber windshield molding.

Just last week I noticed a steady drip that seemed to run behind kick panel passenger side. Upon inspection of windshield I found significant holes around the top. Repaired it with POR-15 and marine epoxy and fiberglass cloth.

My floors are wet in the rear passenger floor boards and driver and passenger boards. This week I'm going to pull all the carpeting out and do some sleuthing.

In a perfect world my problem would just be fixed by removing and reinstalling the windshield. I am thinking it could be more like yours. Just so happens the Jeep is going into the body shop to take care of some surface rust issues. Roof and hood. So I am going to let my body man deal with the windshield. This way if he finds something wrong other then the seal he can handle it while he is doing everything else.
