Default water in interior

Looking around on CF ive seen many threads aboutb water getting into the int. form the heater box, but thats not the case. After driving through some light showers, i parked my XJ while at work, to only find that i had collected a good 2inches of water on drivers floorboard. This problem already occurred once,so i ripped out all the front carpeting to find no holes, rusted areas or missing body drain plugs. the water seems to come from somewhere around the drivers door, but i cant for the life of me find the problem. ANY help at all is much appreciated.

I had a similar situation in my '87 Cherokee except that it was on the passenger side. Had me going berserk for a while. To get it through inspection for registration, I had to replace the windshield. As it turns out the seal between the windshield and body was really pourous on the passenger side. Additionally there was a rust hole behind the seal that water was making it through. With any luck I have taken care of this.

Hope this is of some assistance to you. It can be a real PITA to find leaks like this.

Were I would check would be the seal on windshield, I have had them rust, small leak while setting, hard to tell where leak is coming from. Getting floor board wet.

i looked over the whole windshield seal, but it seems to be fine, plus there is no water coming down the fire wall, it just collects on the bottom, i heard from another forum that it may be something to do with the door seal, any know about this?

The easiest way to tell if your windshield has a leak is to get a can of foam glass cleaner, spray all around the outside edge over the trim and on the glass, and using a air compressor with a air nozzle, blow around the interior edges of the windshield while watching the foam on the outside. If the foam moves or gets blown off, then you have a leak at that spot.
Just my 2 cents, Mike

Your seal on the door could be out of place or cracked/dry rotted..
hold a hose over the winshield trim 4 a few then check 4 water, if none repeat over the door while its closed.

Mine leaked from the top left corner of the windshield. I just some silicone and she's leak free again. Cheap and easy.

Edit: Easy way to find the leak is go through a car wash.

My drivers door leaks bad but I know its my seal is out of place. Like Trs80 said go through a car wash. Thats how I know my door leaks but I found out to late water was pouring in all over me. lol So I would say bring something to put under the leak if it gets to wet in the carwash.

I did what trs80 did and put a thick bead of black gasket silicone along the top of the drivers door seal, making sure to completely fill the gap. We had Seattle like rain for a week and no water entered..... on the drivers, now i have to seal the leak around the heater seal on the firewall.

Default driver floor water

I just fixed a leak that drove me crazy on my 99. The drip edge along the roof had a spot where water was coming out before the end. That leak allowed water to get into the top of the door where it got into the molding that holds the header in place ran along the inside door frame and dropped the water just in front of the seat. A little construction adhesive under the drip edge solved that problem. Another leak I had was in the rear quarters in front of the wheels causing rot . There are seems in the middle front of the rear wheel wells that need a bead of caulk, I used waterproof construction adhesive there too. Now the whole car is bone dry.

Mine was leaking water all around the windshield. If its like that, work with it fast, cause water burn my ECU, dripping on top of it.

Also check the roof rack seals, they can be worn out and water can come in, go down the pilar and into the floors, without your interiors or any visible water coming down
