Default Washer Pump Replacement // Fender Lining Removal ???

So, I've inherited my Dad's 1998 Cherokee XJ. There's a list of things that I want to get done, and one of those is replacing the washer pump. From what I've read, replacing the pump once you've got to it is fairly easy. Pop it out, reattach the wires and the hose, and you're good. However, I couldn't really find anything on removing the fender lining? So I'm not really sure where to start on this... Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Also, sorry if this isn't in the right place or something.

It's mounted to the bottom of the washer tank. There may be 2 of them if you have a rear wiper/washer system. $14 at Autozone. I just replaced mine recently. You have to take the tank off the firewall to get at it/them.

I already have the replacement pump, got it at Autozone the other day. How did you get your fender lining off? Was it hard? Did any of the little plastic things break? I've watched a couple of videos, but none of them really touched on removing the lining.

You do have to pop the plastic push fasteners out. They will be useless after removing them. You can get them at Lowes, NAPA, etc. You just need at tool to pry them out.

The '98 doesn't have the washer tank on the firewall, it's under the left wheel well liner.

Have fun.

Is that what I would use a rivet gun for? If not, then what would I use to get them out?
Another question, do you know what kind of fasteners I need? I want to order them and have them before I rip apart the fender.
Thanks for the help!

Amazon.com: Lisle 35260 Plastic Fastener Remover: Automotive Amazon.com: Lisle 35260 Plastic Fastener Remover: Automotive

Pop one out and take it to the auto parts store where you'll buy your removal tool.

So, the fastener remover would be used to remove the fender liner. Then I would replace the pump, how do I go about getting the lining back on?

Just saw the rest of your post, it didn't load at first. I just have to get one of the fasteners out, and then get some replacements from AutoZone. Then I can actually take it all the way off. Ill have to try it tomorrow

Don't be a fritened rabbit. Just unarse the liner, change [both] pump[s], ops check them, then chase down the fasteners.

Putting the liner back on is the reverse order of taking it off.

Now that you know what the tool looks like use what ever you can to get one of the fasteners out. Go to the parts store and get the tool and fasteners the same time. Don't forget to count how many you'll need and a couple extra wouldn't hurt.

If your XJ is from the rust belt you will puke when you get the liner off.

I took mine out and left them out when I was checking for rust under my flares.

Is that okay? Doesn't a bunch of crap get up there though? I was always under the impression that that was bad

I put pool noodles back in the door cavities, silicone in every hole I saw, then undercoated it all. Towards the headlights I did reinstall the flaps. Where I live I'm dealing with mud every time it rains so I need easy access for power washing things. That's also why I cut and folded the lower rear quater panels and trimmed the front part of the front fenders up even with the signal/running lights. Also removed the air dam (?) below the front bumper and the dust flap(?) between the rear hatch and bumper.
