Voltage guage jump
hey guys trying to figure out whats going on with my jeep. the past few nights ive been driving it and all of a sudden my voltage guages jumps to 19 and my check gauges light comes on. Then it stays on for maybe 30seconds-1min and drops back down to 14. has this happend to any of you guys? is my alternator going bad or is it something else? my dad was saying something about the voltage regulator going bad. any ideas whats going on?

The voltage regulator is inside the ECU, not an inexpensive proposition. I'd check the battery, cables, alternator output, ECU connector and grounds for anything wrong first.
It may be ramping up the voltage based on a faulty connection, or alternator that drops out or something external like that.
