So basically i went off roading this morning. Got stuck a couple times and went on some pretty serious terrian for my setup. When i pulled off the trail i noticed my steering wheel shaking back and forth. This it would go away. I thought it got better but now later in the day ive realized that it only shakes from about 50-55 mph. It REALLY REALLY shakes. it will start out out suttle then i feel like there's an earthquake in my car. So i took it to get alligned because i thought that was it but it still does it...can anybody help??
is this on your 98 cherokee.?? my 00' cherokee was doing this on deceleration only, so bad infact that it broke my stabilizer. I replaced all warn out front end parts, and rotors and pads. shes all good now, I assumed it was just a bad combo of warn and ****ty parts

Basically you've lost the ability to track - meaning your wheels do not know which way to go. Missalligned something, broke something - who knows. have you recently put a lift on?

I beleive i had the same problem. after off roading and banging my front end around quit a bit and when i got back on the street everyonce and a while it would have a severe shaking which many people on this site call the "death wobble."
Mine was doing it because i had nocked the bottom bolt on the track bar (blue in pic) (passenger side end) loose. This is probably your problem too. It is also very dangerous if you dont tighten it back up to correct specs. It is basically one of the components which holds both sides of the front end together so they work together as one, not indipendently. If your not sure what this is refer to the diagram below.
