Default violent shaking

my 98 xj 4.0 manual trans shakes, well more like vibrates at about 70mph+ on the highway. When off roading sometimes or when the motor seems to be bogging, the whole jeep shakes extremely violently. This just started today so I am very concerned.

please help and much thanks!

im re posting this because i posted it at 2am and didn't get much feedback probably because everyone is sleeping.

Does it shake as in wabble or just vibrate?

Because if it wabbles it something in your front end like track bar, wheel barrings, steering stabilizer, or there could be play in the steering gear box.

shakes as in wobble, but it sounds and feels way worse than what i have heard of death wobble. my stick almost wants to pop out of gear it looks like because its shaking so bad, u can even hear a knocking somewhere.

Sounds like possibly steering/suspension bracket or bushing, Start @ the front, shake down the front end, make sure everything is tight and within spec/allowable movement, balljoints, tie rod, pittman arm trackbar etc. Then, move to the driveline, make sure eng, trans, transfer, and diff are secure, no bad or broken mounts or bushings, pennys arent necc a wanted currency, but thats my two cents!

If your jeep is lifted and your rear drive shaft is out of spec that also can cause death wabble but, when mine wabbled it was the steering stabilizer and track bar so like he said shake it down and make sure everything is tite,
