Default Video with sound, all opinions welcome

My mechanic is on vacation this week of course......so now I'd like to hear all your thoughts on what you hear...you know, so I can be tortured by it all.

Update #1: The water you see dripping in the video is from me hosing it off before I shot the video.

Update #2: The sound just went away. I asked the transmission guy about it, and he doesn't think it's the flex plate because the sound would only get worse if it was.

Your fan is hitting something.
Look down in the radiator area.

Yeah, if it's coming from the back of the engine, it's in the bellhousing. I'd be looking at the flexplate too. Might be a good idea to pull of the inspection cover and see if something is in there or the flexplate is damaged.

In the video you can see water is dripping from the front of the engine.
I stand by it's the fan.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I just finished hosing the Jeep off. It's a right-hand drive I use for mail delivery and it gets dusty as hell. Also, my mechanical fan is gone, replaced by three electric Mishimoto.

HAHA OK not the fan then.

EDIT: BTW that radiator is awesome!
Made a HUGE difference in my cooling woes, as my little stroker runs very warm.

Yeah, I rarely see the needle go past the noon position anymore. I have a manual switch for them so I can let the engine stay warmer in the winter.

The fan hitting something theory could go away on its own when it finished grinding away what it was hitting. If there was some debris in the bellhousing that came from the outside, it could perhaps go back the way it came. If the sound was from the edges of a crack popping past each other on the flex plate, that could go away for a little while if the edges wore each other down. But that one will definitely return as the rest of the flexplate fails soon after.

It would take about 30min to remove the inspection plate cover, and rotate the engine while checking the flexplate for cracks, evidence of a missing bolt or chunk of broken flexplate, just the reassurance factor....I dont think thats a fan, as it was slightly too low a frequency...but 5mins look would clear that up
