vibration after lift?????
I bought a 1992 jeep Cherokee with 3 inch spring spacers and shackles. Since then I got a 4 inch suspension lift from a friend very cheap. It came with springs track
bar and rear springs. Anyway. Now it has 7 inches of lift. My drive shaft is vibrating and popping very badly. I looked and found that the rear shaft was moved out from
the trans about an inch. My first instinct is lengthen the shaft to stop vibration. Am I right? Feedback will be appreciated. Thanks

Lift as high as yours you will need a slip yolk eliminator and a rear shaft with CV joints.
You have too much of an angle on the rear u joints that is what is causing your vibs.

Thanks for the info!. I also read something about a tc drop. I am pretty handy and I beleive I can make one. I couldnt find where to install it. Does it go in between the cross member and the frame?
I know it needs a sye, but it may work temporarly. Couldnt hurt to try

Dont waste your time with a transfer drop at that height. You'll never get the angles correct to eliminate vibes.
The popping your hearing is the ujoint operating angle maxing out as it rotates and hitting against the opposite side of the joint.. remove it and you'll see where it's making contact.
You keep driving this as such and you'll run the risk of damage. Get an SYE and CV driveshaft.

The only SYE I could find cheap enough is a rugged ridge. It requires a manual vaccume switch for a nother 120.00. anyonw have any ideas. This jeep wqas suposed to be a cheap play toy that turned in to a friend selling me a lift CHEAP that turned into waaaaayyyy to much money. It is now sitting in the driveway useless. I need to get this thing running for no more than 400.00 Does anyone know if there is something from a YJ or something off another vehicle that will fix this problem. I do have a friend who works for an auto salvage and has access to used parts. Thanks

If your incistant on running the 7" you'll need the SYE and shaft, possibly other items such as brakelines/steering/trackbar and the like. If it was cheap to run that height there would be more people doing so.
My advice.. remove the 3" spacers and shackles dropping it to 4" and you'll be in much better shape.

X2 remove the 3" spacers and go back to "4. Like overlandXJ said, once you go over 4 you get into the brakelines/steering/trackbar items. You don't really want a 3" spacer on your springs anyways... Didn't even know they made them in 3".

seems like he would need brakelines and steering extensions at this point already.. but yeah.. slip yolk makes a world of differnce. i recommend one even if its not nessacary

When you get into the higher lifts you really cant stay cheap and safe. At some point you gotta do the right thing, if not for yoursef and passengers but the public that is on the road at the same time as your jeep.Drop the lift to a safer height, as far as the u-joints with it popping the damage may have already been done. Take a long hard look at the running gear. You may have some damage to take care of.

SYE and CV rear shaft installed still ????
Ok my 92 cherokee now has 7 inches of lift. After crazy vibrations and great info from all of you I installed SYE with rear shaft, extended brake lines, adjustable trac bar and shocks. All the vibration in the rear is gone but I still have some slight vibration or more of a slight poping noise coming from the front shaft. I took out the front shaft and installed all new u-joints. It helped a little but it is still not perfect. I need to get this fixed before I get an alighnment. The only thing I have not done is a trac bar drop bracket. Will this fix it? I also have not done a tc drop kit ( i prfer not to. Any help will be apreciated.
Next time I should stick to my guns (if its not broke dont fix it)
