Default Is this very common?

i have a skid plate under the front end of my jeep but also with that are two hitch recievers. it looks like it was used to tow it or something cuz it has a plug in too. i was trying to install new sway bar bushings but the plate and the recievers are welded to the sway bar brackets? i was planning on taking all that off for my new bumper that im building but now im not sure because it looks pretty permanent. anyone ever seen anything like this?

Looks like it was attached to the back of an RV. The Cherokee is a very popular vehicle to do that with. I wouldn't call it common but I have been it before. I don't know how strong they are but if they are strong enough you could get a winch that has a receiver hitch mount and you would be able to use the winch on both front and back.

my guess is the PO has a custom winch bumper on it that he made removable. just put it into the hitch receiver and voila! winch bumper!

I agree. Probably was used for a tow bar attachment. Like you'd use when you towed it behind an RV.

^of course it was. and the trailer plug was to operate the tail/brake lights.

you wouldn't want to use those for a winch. winching from one uni-frame rail is bad. lol.

once you remove the skid plate, you'll probably find they are just bolted in. welding them in without bolts isn't legal.
