I am looking to put a pair of the "rocking" seats in my S10 that my friend has in his cherokee. The track is curved and when you pull a lever it lets you pivot the whole seat not just the back. Only one cherokee at my local junkyard has these seats, and they are in very poor condition. Needless to say, I am hunting down a better pair. What vehicles / years came with these rocking seats?

How are they operated? Can they only be found on manual seats or are they on electric seats as well? Is there a lever to lock and unlock them?

My 89 had those, they were the most comfortable seats ive ever had. They also had much better lumbar support than the ones in my 99 sport. If I could have anything from that truck it would be the seats.

They were manual, there was a small lever on the front of the seat that you pulled up on and it would pivot front to back.

.....also had a nice little ac vent under the steering wheel to keep the boys cool

My 89 had one in the driver's seat. It broke, and therefore sucked!! It never worked right while I had it. I'm a little hard on seats though!! Big guy syndrome!!

BlueXJ,
It is somewhat hart to tell, but if you look towards the passanger side besides the fore/aft adjuster, you will see the rocking lever...tried to snap under the seat but it was just too dark...

I am looking for the whole seat and track since mine is pretty well beat up all around. Most likely salvaged because I'm on a tight budget. I was thinking of searching car-part.com but I wouldn't know which model/version to search for since it seems there was no rhyme or reason in which ones came with these seats. Maybe it was an option.

Rocking seats
My 1989 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2-door has the rocking seats for the driver and passenger seats.
These are the original seats since I ordered this Jeep new.
I think it was an option that year.
