There very common in ZJ's. I have them(power) both sides, I've heard of guys using these tracks on other seats. So might want to look into that if you can find a set.

 

Nick do you know the proper name for them b/c I can't find anything appropriate when I Google that term.

Rocker recliner seats were available in 1989 Cherokees for both the driver and passenger seats.
The standard seat frame has a straight track and the rocker recliner has a curved track.
There is a black plastic handle beneath the front of the lower seat cushion.
I attached two photos showing the rocker track assembly.
DSCN0294 shows the front of the passenger seat.
I attached a yellow post-it-note to the rocker recliner handle.
DSCN0298 shows the left side of the passenger seat.
I attached a yellow post-it-note with a arrow showing the begining and end of the of the curved seat track.

Awesome. The detailed pics will help me plan my frankenstein swap job. So these seats were an option then? And only in year 89? That would explain why they are somewhat uncommon.

My 89 XJ Pioneer has (had) both front seats with the rockers. The driver has since broken, I would like to find a replacement.

 

Sooo my boss just informed me today that rocking chairs are a thing in Cherokees and I just so happen to have an 88 Cherokee. Of course I was stoked and had to see if mine has them. I've found the lever and can clearly see the curved track so I know mine has them (on both drivers and passengers sides) but I can't for the life of me get them to rock. I'm guessing it's either user error or the rocker is seized from lack of use. Any tips? Someone else on this thread mentioned that you just pull up hard and lean back, but I've already broken the drivers side plastic by doing so and I don't want to break the passenger. I tried pulling up and even pushing back with my feet on the dash and nothing.
