Not enough user experience with recycled oils. Why don't you use it and report back to us how long it took to grenade your engine?

I could have sworn I read something on BobIsTheOilGuy where some guys didn't like it. Something in the UOA didn't agree with them. I can't remember. Personally, I don't like the prospect of using used oil in my vehicles, BUT that is my opinion and I can easily be wrong.

well ive used it for about 2000 miles and engine still runs like a charm. it doesnt blow any smoke, it runs cool and quiet, absolutely no ticking. and what is UOA? and i think most of the doubt of the legitimacy of recycled oils for engines come from past recycled oils that were junk but supposedly oil technology has come a long way in the past 20 years. and im not lookin for any heat firestorm just some info and help.

It's easier to make motor oil out of used oil than crude, it still has all of the lubricating properties, all the essentially do is "burn off" the contaminants

Well, it's your engine and your money. Personally, I run full synthetic in most of my engines, including my lawn mowers.

Somethings I don't understand...

If it is cheaper to recycle oil, why is Nextgen to expensive?

If Castrol and Valvoline is a buying group, why do they claim to be soo great, when they every year go around and buy oil and re-bottle/label it?

If synthetic is supposed to be man made....why isn't it cheaper?!?!

I will stick with 10w-30 Amalie oil, and a can of MOA.

I heard synthetic ruins all your seals and such in the motor like main seals. Is there any truth to ths? changing your oil every 7 or 8k miles probably saves even more oil than recycled conventionak

The appeal to the consumer. People will pay more for stuff that's advertised to help "green " the enviroment.

Because they can make hugh profits by doing that and the average Joe has know idea they are doing that.

Again because of the demand. It's advertised as a superior product so therefore is has a premium pricetag.

Im aware you were probably making statments and not actually looking for answers to these questions.

no

The amount of stupidity and ignorance that floats around when it comes to oils is stunning... People really need to do some research and stop spreading false information.

Well actually I was running vavlvoline higimileage, and when I switched to royal purple, I developed a leak, my main seal was prolly on its way anyways tho.

As mentioned, synthetics oils:

-do NOT cause leaks (most have seal conditioners in them anyways)

-do NOT cause excessive burn off

-do NOT lead to the rising of the devil

Just kidding on the last one, but the way some people talk about full syn, you'd think they thought it was part of some satanic cult hell bent on destroying your engine.

I personally agree with Firestorm. Full syn oils are steps ahead of conventional, and in my opinion recycled oils as well. This is why I run Rotella T6 Full Syn 5w40 in my rig. In regards to another post above, I don't know how making oil from used oil already is easier than making it from crude. I also don't see how it would be cheaper, unless they are skimping on quality. Think about it.

Fresh oil has fresh additives, lubricating properties, and no contaminants (like iron in UOA's). When you drain, the used oil is contaminated, many of the additives have been worn out, and the lubricating properties change (ever wonder while unchanged oil sludges up?).

Again, this is all my own speculation, and I'm sure there's an oil nut on here that will bash my opinions and 'prove' me wrong, which is fine. To each their own.
